Good Afternoon & Welcome.

Charleston County is a special place and I am proud to have served on County Council for the last seven years. I am proud to have worked across party lines to fight out of control growth, improve planning, and to have never, ever voted for a property tax increase. We have great people in this county - people of faith, people who take pride in their neighborhoods and who take pride in their families. We are a truly blessed community.

I have been personally blessed too. My father was a first generation American who together with my mother taught me the value of hard work and the importance of family and faith. My wife Anne and I have recently been blessed with two additions to the Stavrinakis family. Clara Anne and Emmanuel bring us constant joy and, of course, constant challenges. I am a better father & representative because of the values instilled in me by my family, my church, and my community.

Our community faces many challenges ahead. To reach our goals, we need leaders who are effective and respected.

Our mission is clear, we must improve our schools; we must protect our natural resources from sprawling growth, we have to do more to protect our families from violent crimes and drugs, and we must have tax reform now. As a former prosecutor, I know the terrible effects crime and drugs can have on families. As a father, I know the pain that can be caused by a government that digs too deeply into our pockets. The time has arrived for effective, honest leadership.

Our citizens have demanded a 1^st class community and they have every right to expect the same from their leaders. Today, with my family at my side, I am announcing my candidacy for the State House of Representatives for District 119 in Charleston County. I pledge to run a grassroots campaign that reflects our shared values of faith and family. I know that political spin aside, results really do matter.

As a member of the legislature, I won’t be taking orders from political bosses. Instead, I’ll be fighting for the people who work in Charleston County.  I will be fighting for the families who live here and pray here everyday. My commitment to this community is that I will be a representative everyone can be proud of and one who will always honor those values we hold so dear.
