State Representative Leon Stavrinakis Announces Bid for Re-Election

Charleston, SC - State Representative Leon Stavrinakis (D-119) announced on Thursday his intention to run for re-election in 2018. Stavrinakis, a lifelong Charlestonian, is a member of the budget-writing Ways and Means Committee as well as the House Ethics Committee. He was first elected to the House in 2006. "Representing the people of West Ashley, Johns Island and James Island has been the greatest honor of my life," said Rep. Stavrinakis. "As Charleston continues to grow, our challenges mount. If the citizens of District 119 put their faith in me for another term, I will continue to bring my common-sense, bipartisan approach to state government. I will focus on getting results for the people of Charleston by working to complete I-526, require better local planning and other solutions to improve traffic and flooding, and I will fight the risky proposal by special interests and Washington insiders to drill for oil off our precious coast. Finally, I want to assure every voter that I will not rest until we shut off the flow of fraudulent charges being levied on our power bills from SCANA’s failed nuclear project.” Stavrinakis' bipartisan leadership has consistently earned him support across party lines and from both pro-business and pro-environment groups. Stavrinakis resides in West Ashley with his wife, Anne, and their three children, Clara Anne, 13, Emmanuel, 12, and Emma, 11.
